JUST A THOUGHT!

There is this big tree outside in our backyard. It has a lot of branches that have grown out. As I look through the branches I can see the sky. The sky looks far away. As I sit and stare it sometimes looks like the branches start to thicken. I try to focus on the sky but the branches become a distraction.

Metaphorically thinking that is what happens when we try to put our focus on Jesus. We may keep trying to focus but the “branches”; we will classify as life’s distractions will come in and thicken in our eyes that the focus grows dimmer and dimmer. What shall we say to this growth. What shall we say to our focus, or current incapability to focus on what is the most important point of life – Jesus. How shall we bypass these distractions: to name a few – children, spouse, job, food, shelter, money, bills, health, etc.

If we are truly going to get this point clear in our lives, again point being Jesus. We may need to take out some time to pray before we meditate. I recently read that prayer is s talking to God and meditation is listening to God. So I just suggested to pray first so that when we meditate we have nothing to say. It is hard to meditate when you have a lot on your mind. When we awake each day, we first focus on our tree branches / distractions. We may need to shift some of our branches and focus beyond the tree. That way the branches that may need to be trimmed, cut off, or just moved to the side will no longer be a distraction.

There are some people that will say life is hard, but loving the Lord and being obedient to His Word and His way makes things a lot easier. He knows the plans He has for us; we may just need to get past the fact that we often don’t like people telling us what to do.
